Main Topic:  Bottlenecks:  SQL Server on Flash Storage

Main Topic Speaker:  Steve LeRoy, Violin Memory

Main Topic Summary:  In today datacenters, we’ve seen speed and capacity improvements in CPU,  Memory and Networking and until very recently IO Subsystems.  As DBAs we’ve done much to compensate for the lack of IO Subsystem improvement,  add CPUs, try and hold as much data as possible in local memory,  schema changes etc…Now with Flash we can truly remove the lack of IO Subsystem efficiency and associated bottlenecks and make your SQL Servers perform the way they were meant to with optimized CPU utilization, Memory Utilization and IO Subsystem utilization.

Main Topic Speaker Bio:
Steve has been a DBA since the mid 80s,  starting as a Sybase DBA them MS SQL Server.  Steve was based out of the Washington D.C.  working for most of the 3 letter government Agencies as a contractor doing development, architect and production DBA jobs on small to large scale applications.  Recently,  Steve has been based out of Atlanta, GA doing similar work until working for Violin Memory since 2011.
