Main Topic: Getting Started With Tabular Analysis Services

Main Topic Summary: This session will give the basics of starting a tabular model with Analysis Services 2014 and PowerView from Excel 2013. We will start by opening the Visual Studio environment to create a Solution/Project. The Fact and Dimension tables will be imported and Filtered. Basic attribute and hierarchies will be created along with some calculations on the fact data. The Deployed project will be previewed in PowerView from Excel 2013.

Main Topic Bio: Thomas LeBlanc is a Data Warehouse Architect in Baton Rouge, and uses his 25 years in IT to help develop OLTP systems with normalized databases for high-performing T-SQL systems and end-to-end dimensional data marts using SSIS, SSAS, 3rd party apps, and Excel. His SQL Server certifications include MCSA 12, MCITP 08 BI and DBA, MCITP 2005 DBA, and MCDBA 2000. As a PASS volunteer, he is currently the Excel BI VC chair and past chair of Data Arch VC and VC Mentor. Thomas has spoken at the PASS Summit for the last 4 years(2011-2014).
